WHAT IS KRAV MAGA?

Krav Maga is a principles-based system of self-defense that leverages the body’s instinctive response to attacks while delivering a simultaneous or near-simultaneous counter-attack as efficiently and effectively as possible. The fact that Krav Maga bases each technique on the body’s natural instinctive responses makes it easy to learn and recall under stress, a critical element when it comes to effectively dealing with a sudden violent encounter.

Krav Maga roughly translates as “contact combat” in Hebrew and is the hand-to-hand combat system of the Israeli Defense Force. Krav Maga blends the most practical aspects of various fighting styles such as western boxing, wrestling, Judo, Jui Jitsu and Muay Thai. As an open self-defense system rather than traditional martial arts, Krav Maga evolves to address the ever-changing world of modern violence rather than holding to traditions or techniques that may no longer be relevant for the challenges of the day.
